RTS Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a number of positions: Outside Plant design, Field design/Runner and OSP Project Manager.  These opportunities are immediate as well as mid-term (within a 30-45 day interval), and include various locations across the southeast.  Most positions allow employees the flexibility to work remotely.  The final location will be discussed at the time of candidate selections and interviews.

OSP DESIGNER

OSP DESIGNERSEND EMAIL TO: [email protected]

Responsibilities of an OSP Designer include design of buried, underground and aerial copper and fiber cable systems and associated plant. This includes taking accurate and detailed field notes, drafting, and validating. Candidates must be familiar with OSP Engineering standards, practices, and construction methods. MUST have previous experience with BSTCAD & OSPCM.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Be able to access and interact with information systems specific to supporting AT&T in the Southeast, such as BSTCAD, OSPCM, AOTx, AOTx, etc.
  • Must be able to develop an understanding of, and comply with, all of the client’s requirements and practices for design standards for engineering OSP.
  • Be able to perform field surveys and accurately capture field data as required for design. This includes correctly identifying field conditions that will have an impact on design.
  • Be able to design new and existing facilities for both copper and fiber plant utilizing current technology and systems.
  • Be able to perform self-check on work and quality control own work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the client’s standards.
  • Be able to understand and apply accurate billing standards to work performed.
  • Must be able to work closely with other engineers and customer to insure quality and timely project completion.
  • Must be well organized and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivating, and be detail oriented.
  • Must be proficient with a CAD applications and the Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be able to perform field surveys and accurately capture field data as required for design. This includes correctly identifying field conditions that will have an impact on design.
  • Accurately relate field conditions via paper drawings, electronic devices, photographs, or other formats specified, back to the project manager and/or client.
  • Accurately record the data and measurements using the standards and symbols required by the client in order to accurately relate the field conditions.
  • Have a solid working knowledge of equipment and plant located in the field and in use by the client, and correctly identify which items need to be documented.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivating, and be detail oriented.
  • Display effective leadership skills in scheduling, motivating, rewarding, and assisting individuals in their workgroup.
  • Ensure that reporting engineers have the proper training, tools, etc to perform their tasks in a quality and timely manner in order to meet the client’s requirements.
  • Provide reporting engineers with evaluations and feedback in a constructive and timely manner.
  • Manage and schedule the workload. Ensure that work is distributed and completed on time.
  • Interact directly with the customer on scheduling, quality, and timeliness issues. Resolve any issues with the customer that arise.
  • Work with the customer to promote and advance RTS and its reputation.
  • Adhere to RTS Associates company policies and administer as appropriate.
  • Provide accurate and timely payroll and billing reporting.
  • Stay current with customer standards and practices and communicate changes to reporting engineers.
  • Communicate clearly, and an positive manner, both internally to RTS, and externally with the customer.
FIELD DESIGNER/RUNNER

Responsibilities of the Field Designer/Runner include taking comprehensive field notes for buried, underground, and aerial copper and fiber cable systems and associated plant. Candidates must be familiar with OSP for telecommunications, routing standards, and construction methods. Field notes must be accurately and neatly taken to ensure pertinent aspects are communicated clearly to the lead designer or customer.

Responsibilities of the Field Engineer include:

  • Be able to perform field surveys and accurately capture field data as required for design. This includes correctly identifying field conditions that will have an impact on design.
  • Accurately relate field conditions via paper drawings, electronic devices, photographs, or other formats specified, back to the project manager and/or client.
  • Accurately record the data and measurements using the standards and symbols required by the client in order to accurately relate the field conditions.
  • Have a solid working knowledge of equipment and plant located in the field and in use by the client, and correctly identify which items need to be documented.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivating, and be detail oriented.
OSP PROJECT MANAGER

Responsibilities for a Project Manager include providing management and technical direction for designing Outside Plant (OSP) as it relates to specific clients’ needs and standards. They will be responsible for providing quality, timely, and cost-effective design services. Project Managers must have a thorough understanding of the work performed by their reporting personnel. Personnel responsibilities will include maintaining proper hiring practices, training, personnel appraisals, recruiting, succession planning, payroll approvals, and billing approvals. The Project Manager will be expected to provide oversight, direction, and leadership to insure customer satisfaction.

Additional responsibilities include:
